Motorcyclists' Rest Stop on the A28 Rouen-Alençon Motorway

On the occasion of the famous 24 Hour Motorcycle Race which will take place at Le Mans on 8th and 9th September next, ALIS has team up for the second year running with the National Bodies (Prefectures, Highways Department of the Orne and Eure Departments) and the Orne and Eure Department Councils to set up two “motorcyclists’ rest stops” on the A28 Rouen - Alençon Motorway. Alis is also once again providing access to the motorway to motorcyclists free of charge in order to improve traffic safety and flow.

Successfully implemented for the first time last year, this operation allowed, in 2011, more than a thousand motorcyclists to take a welcomed break in their journey.

On the journey to the race, the motorcyclists will be welcomed on the Dentelle d'Alençon Rest & Service Area, on Friday 7th from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm and on Saturday 8th from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. On the return journey from the race, the motorcyclists will be welcomed on the Domaine d'Harcourt Rest & Service Area (exit 13, Brionne), on Sunday 9th from 2:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

On these Rest & Service Areas, motorcyclists will be able to take advantage of coffee and pastries, provided free of charge by the organisers and relax in massaging arm chairs. They’ll also be able to check and adjust tyre pressure and clean their helmet visors, and if necessary tools will be made available. In addition fuel and food is available on these service & rest areas.

Furthermore, road safety messages inciting motorcyclists to drive relaxed and responsible will be broadcasts at these rest stops.
